Hosting on GitHub Pages

This website is served through GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.

When you open a page, GitHub processes the access data this technically requires, in particular your IP address, the date and time of the request, the address requested, the browser type sent and the page visited before. This serves to deliver the website and to secure its operation, for example against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is a secure and reliable provision of the website.

This involves a transfer of data to the USA. GitHub is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; the transfer relies on the adequacy decision of the European Commission under Art. 45 GDPR. Details are in the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

The controller has no access to this access data and does not analyse it. How long GitHub keeps it is up to GitHub; the periods and criteria are in the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

Storage in your browser

When you choose the light or dark theme with the switch in the top bar, your browser keeps that choice in its local storage (localStorage) under the name theme. The entry stays in your browser and is never transmitted. It is strictly necessary for the function you explicitly asked for (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete it at any time in your browser’s settings.

Contact by email

When you get in touch by email, your details are processed to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is answering your request. The data is deleted once it is no longer needed for that purpose and no statutory retention period applies.

Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). Use the email address above.

Right to object: the processing on this website relies on legitimate interests (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). You may object to it at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 (1) GDPR).

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the member state of your habitual residence, your place of work or the place of the alleged infringement.

Besides the GDPR, national data protection law applies, in Germany in particular the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).
